Eligibility for benefits

Associates

You are eligible for all Edward Jones benefits if you are a permanent full-time associate who works at least 25 hours per week.

Part-time associates are eligible for:

  • Well-being programs
  • Retirement Plans (if compensated for 910 hours in the first year of employment)
  • Personal, Voluntary Unpaid Personal and Family Care leaves of absence
  • Employee Assistance Program

Part-time associates are not eligible for medical, dental, life and accidental death and dismemberment insurance or disability benefits.

Dependents

In addition to yourself, eligible dependents you can cover on your benefits include:

  • Your legal spouse, or a person continuously living with you in a role like that of a marriage partner for at least 12 months.
  • Your Edward Jones-recognized Common Law Partnership, which are defined as couples who:
    • Openly introduce each other in social settings as life partners or husband/wife, and
    • Are living together and have lived together in the same household for at least the past 12 continuous months.
  • Children under age 21 (or under age 25 if a full-time student) who are:
    • Your natural children, stepchildren, adopted children beginning with the date of placement and other children for whom you have legal custody. Stepchildren must be living with you to be eligible.
    • Unmarried
    • Not employed on a full-time basis
    • Not eligible for insurance as an employee under this or any other group benefit program

Note: All associates and dependents are eligible for the Employee Assistance Program, regardless of enrolment.

When coverage ends

Your benefits coverage will end for the following reasons:

  • You stop paying premiums for benefits that require a premium
  • Your status changes to part-time or on-call
  • Your employment is terminated or you retire
  • You die
  • You commence active duty in any armed forces
