Time away from work

You can enrol in or decline dental coverage, regardless of whether you enrol in a medical plan.

If you have a late enrolment into the dental plan, your benefit is limited to $200 for the first year of coverage.

What the plan covers

You’ll pay a deductible of $50 per person or $100 per family each year before the plan begins paying a percentage of your expenses. You’ll pay upfront and submit a dental claim form directly to Sun Life for reimbursement.

Oral exam, once every 24 months Covered at 80% $1,000 per calendar year
Preventive and basic services (fillings, root canals, simple extractions, etc.) Covered at 80% $1,000 per calendar year
Major services (crowns, inlays, bridges and dentures) Covered at 50% $1,500 per calendar year
Orthodontia for children under age 19 Covered at 50% $1,500 lifetime maximum per child
